    Helen work...

Helen Hamlin is anexperimental artist who focuses on texture, surface, and emotional depth in her work. She often explores themes of disruption and fragmentation—particularly those connected to relationships—using creative techniques and unconventional materials like natural slate and reclaimed objects that evoke a strong sense of place

  • Helen's work, influenced by the Newlyn School of Art, now blends her pottery and painting skills into textural creations ranging from sculpture to relief panels. Her latest pieces are shaped by reflections on life changes, difficult relationships, retirement, and renewed ties with her sister, prompting her to revisit past family challenges. Slate, copper oxide, rust, and found objects remain central, now paired with materials like Jesmonite and plaster.
